The director bar opens from the capsule toolbar and runs along the bottom of the canvas. It is a timeline for putting clips in order.

Getting media in

  • Drag images or video onto the timeline
  • Alt + drag a media node from the canvas onto the bar — it becomes a clip, or sets an existing clip’s main media
  • From a video node’s toolbar, add to director bar
  • Drop zone hint: drag images or video here

Modes

The timeline works in video, image, or mixed mode. Images use a default image duration you set in seconds.

Editing

Other controls: mute, loop, snap, show all, replace media, clear media, and add an empty dataset.
Snap here is timeline snapping between clips. It is unrelated to node alignment on the canvas, which has no snapping at all.

Exporting

Export menu offering export video, export project as NLE, and download all media

The export menu

Three options:

Export video

Renders the timeline into a single MP4.

Export project (NLE)

A ZIP containing timeline.otio, timeline.edl, a media/ folder, and manifest.json — for continuing the edit in a professional editor.

Download all media

Every clip’s source file.
The NLE export is the one to use when the canvas has done its job and the cut needs to move to Premiere, Resolve, or Final Cut. The OTIO and EDL files carry the edit decisions; the media folder carries the sources.
Use the director bar to check that a sequence reads before you invest in upscaling or regenerating its shots. Rough clips in the right order tell you more about whether a scene works than one polished shot does.
